The Special Delivery…

I often find myself listening one song over and over for several days, even weeks at a time. I love music and especially when it’s edifying to my spirit and glorifying to God, it gets me going and I can stay on one song for a while, while I get revelation and grow deeper in my relationship with Jesus.

Lately, I’ve been listening to Travis Greene’s song “On The Hill” that talks about the blood of Jesus and its power. Some of the most powerful lines in the song include; “it still has the power…”, “the blood don’t discriminate…”, and this sequence…”on the hill there’s a cross, at the cross there is blood for me…” Sums up the the true power of the cross and the blood He shed there.

I often find myself contemplating what it must have been like for Jesus as He hung on the cross and completed the mission. “It is finished…” he said, “then breathed His last”. He completed His mission and in so doing delivered us to the Father. He came to collect a special package. We needed a savior. We needed a path back into God’s glory. We needed access into Heaven and He was sent on a mission to deliver us back home.

He came, lived, died, rose, and returned to His place after accomplishing the mission. He delivered and now it’s our turn. While we don’t need to shed blood, get crucified, die, or have to be resurrected, we have a daily mandate to carry a cross, to die daily to our fleshly desires, ‘bleed’ by laying down our lives for others, and strive to see our mission on earth completed.

We too have a mandate to deliver. We’re not called to simply glean from His blood, enjoy a life of salvation and freedom in His presence yet not deliver. Our mission on earth is to deliver others into the Kingdom of God. He died for them too. Once we get them born again and salvaged from darkness, the next part of the journey is the special delivery…

Are we scaling them to remove the blemishes of the world and the stench of sin? Are we washing them with the water of the Word in order to get them sanctified and freed from soulish passions and desires? Are we claiming their lives for the sake of the Kingdom of God? Are we speaking destiny and purpose? Are we getting them established in God? Are we making the special delivery?

A delivery is only as special as its contents. If I’m not anticipating something special, I’m not anticipating the delivery. My passion for the Kingdom pushes me to desire to see ‘special’ souls delivered into the Kingdom of God…and kept there!

I have to keep my fire ablaze, my passion hot, my sight contrite, and my pursuit clear and focused. The blood of Jesus covers me and all those He has called to Himself. Since they’re all God’s creation, they’re special to Him and need to be delivered back to Him. Special deliveries are happening everyday as men and women are born again and freed from bondage into a life of purpose. I’m so grateful He paid it all and I get to participate in His work on earth.

I’m now listening to Cody Barnes’ “Nothing Else” as special are deliveries loading…

I have a passion for all things Christ. I am in the world and not of the world and so I engage in political and social discussions as they cross my path. Can we resolve the pressing issues of society using the word of God and His power? I think yes!
