The Word of the Lord says…
“And in that day,” declares the Lord GOD, “I will make the sun go down at noon; and I will darken the earth in the daytime. – Amos 8:9
The sun and moon will grow dark, and the stars will no longer shine. – Joel 3:15
For at that time there will be great tribulation, unmatched from the beginning of the world until now, and never to be seen again. – Matthew 24:21
Yet He also says…
“But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.” – Matthew 24:36
I believe we’ll get through this.
I believe this virus is a scary and unprecedented attack on mankind. We have embraced globalization and with a global economy comes shared global interests, connections, issues…and illnesses. A simple, curable illness can easily and quickly spread all over the world in only a matter of days. The attached consequence, beyond the loss of lives, is the disruption created as a result. This virus has created an untold amount of disruption to every single area of life.
No end times talk
While I haven’t seen many people predict the end times, I have seen an untold amount of panic, fear, and confusion. Our faith and trust in God pushes us to view things from a spiritual perspective. We’re drawn to pray and not fear, to intercede and not condemn, to travail and not panic.
Be Wise
I’m a firm believer in preparation and I am taking all the precautions I can in this season. We should wash hands, wear masks, maintain social distance, avoid large gatherings, sneeze and cough with mouths covered safely, and quarantine ourselves if we happen to get infected.
What We Must Do
The spiritual question to answer is the posture Christians must take. Our prayer ought to focus on what ails our world. My prayer is for this virus to be stopped in its tracks. Our God can and will. My prayer in this season is that we shall draw nearer to God, all over the world, and that His name shall be glorified even in the midst of crisis. My prayer is that men and women will come to the knowledge of a God who saves and gives us life beyond what we have here on earth.
My prayer is also for a cure, a vaccine to be found…quickly. My prayer is for healing for those infected. My prayer is for restoration of what is lost financially. My prayer, above all, is for the peace of God, that surpasses all understanding, to prevail in this situation. I believe in a God who saves, heals and restores. I believe in a God who is merciful.
Balance in prayer entails focus on God’s will and purpose in every situation, believing that it shall pass, along with wisdom to do the right thing. We’re living in perilous times that call for a deeper travail. Pray for all nations of the world and for those near you who may be suffering from the effects of this illness. Pray for the plague to be reversed.
God is still on the throne!

When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command the locust to devour the land, or send pestilence among my people, if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
– 2 Chronicles 7:13-14
