Affected not Infected!

I believe God’s will for His people in this season is that we’re to be affected and not infected by the mindsets and attitudes around us. I believe we shall come out of it strong and victorious if we focus on Him and grow rather than on ourselves and become weaker. The whole world has been affected by this scourge yet we need not worry.

And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. – Romans 5:3-5

As believers, we have no reason to worry in this season. God has promised that this shall pass and we believe in His promise. Believers who are fearful and concerned are that way for one of 4 reasons or all of them.

  1. Money has a stranglehold on your life

The bible saysFor the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” (1 Timothy 6:10). This is a vile master that causes us to lose sight of eternal things and begin to focus on earthly wealth and success. When our earthly god is shaken, we are driven to the edge of losing our faith and trust in God.

2. You are religious

Religion without a true relationship with God causes us to want to see things happen a certain way. We end up worshipping a false god that is based on our predefined misconceptions. Religion is a dangerous god because in it we find the resemblance of God with no true relationship. Religious people are thrown off when they can’t meet in their solemn assembly yet God says He “hates our solemn assemblies…” (Amos).

“I hate, I despise your feasts, and I take no delight in your solemn assemblies.
Even though you offer me your burnt offerings and grain offerings I will not accept them; and the peace offerings of your fattened animals, I will not look upon them. Take away from me the noise of your songs; to the melody of your harps I will not listen. But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.” –
(Amos 5:21-24)

A true relationship with the Lord says that the church is the believers and not the building. Be the church wherever you are.

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people’s bones and all uncleanness. – Mat. 23:27

3. Sin

If you’re in sin then repentance will wash away your sin and cleanse you from all unrighteousness. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)

The passing of the season will not change anything.

4. You have always been that way

If you have a tendency to be fearful then you will always be fearful. You need deliverance from the Holy Spirit. Check your foundations and establish yourself on stronger ground. (Matthew 7:24-27)

If we can overcome these for areas, we can have true, lasting victory even in the valley seasons. The solemn assembly has been scattered for a season of self examination. Be affected but not infected!

I have a passion for all things Christ. I am in the world and not of the world and so I engage in political and social discussions as they cross my path. Can we resolve the pressing issues of society using the word of God and His power? I think yes!
